Lockers

(Things available through the "add" command)

Visit

This visualization software has been built and is available under the locker "visit". "add visit" will add it to your path, and "visit" will run the program.

Intel Fortran Compiler

Many people in physics use the Intel fortran compiler, as opposed to the GNU fortran compiler already installed on each linux machine. Realm computers can access it under the locker name "ifc8" (so the command would be "add ifc8"). "ifc7" is also available if version 7 is needed.

Mathematica

This mathematics program is available on all realm computers under the locker name "mathematica".

Tecplot

Tecplot version 10 is available under the locker name "tecplot", while version 9.2 is available under the name "tecplot92".

Maple

The latest version of Maple, 10.0, is under the name "maple100". Versions 6, 7, 8, 9, and 9.5 are also available under the names "maple60", "maple", "maple80", "maple90", and "maple95" respectively. The older versions may be useful because I've had some problems with the latest version. If maple100 doesn't work, try maple95.

Matlab

Matlab support for linux is unstable, but you can try the locker "matlab7sp3". I've had reports of segfaults, and other errors with matlab, so use at your own risk.

Grace

This plotting program is available under the locker name "grace".

Scientific Python

Useful for scientific programming in Python, the scipy package is available as a locker. It also contains the numpy module, the replacement for the old Numeric module. The locker name is "scipy".

netcdf

The netcdf libraries are available, but unfortunately, I cannot remember the locker name that they are under. I'll update this once I figure it out.

bbcp

This utility is installed in the locker "bbcp", a few people find it useful for transferring files securely at high speeds.
